Read on for an explanation of these numbers, why you don’t want to get your canvas size wrong, and an in-depth list of the standard canvas sizes for multiple different purposes. This is obviously simplified a lot, but it works as a general rule. A canvas size of more than 6000 pixels on the long side isn’t usually needed, unless you want to print it poster-sized. If you want to print your digital art, your canvas should be a minimum of 3300 by 2550 pixels. This will look good on most modern phones and pc monitors. Here’s my general rule of thumb: If you just want to show it on the internet and on social media, a good canvas size for digital art is a minimum of 2000 pixels on the long side, and 1200 pixels on the short side. I did a lot of research into what canvas size and resolution I should use for a whole bunch of different purposes, and I rarely run into issues any more. Sometimes it would work out fine, but other times it would lead me into frustrating issues with the painting further down the road. I even handwrite my dialogue if the mood in the story calls for it.Each time I started a new digital painting, I used to basically guess at what size the canvas should be. I mostly use Wild word roman for all regular speech/narration dialogue and then I use the augie or the felt regular for any dialogue that’s more of a side add on to the word ballon or special note for the readers to take notice.Īlso another good rule of thumb is that you the default fonts found within the art program that you’re using is more than adequate enough. The comic fonts that I like to use the most for the dialogue balloons for my webtoon are the Wild Words Roman font, augie font and felt regular font. Google Fonts What Fonts do I use for my Webtoon? Google Font:Sometimes people can me a little leary of downloading from 3rd party sites like the ones I listed above so I feel google font is a great place to download your webtoon fonts.1001 Free Fonts: Is another font site that has been around for a while and they also have a large library of fonts that you can use for your webtoon comic.Dafont: This site is one of my favorite sites that I’ve used for many years because of their licenses search ability and you’re also able to test out what different fonts look like with different lines of dialogue.The ™: store from Monotype offers more than 150,000 desktop and Web font products for you to preview, purchase and download.Blambot: Is the place where an aspiring comic creator can get affordable fonts.There are a lot of places where you can download fonts to use for your webtoon or comic but I’ll just list a few of them so that I don’t overwhelm you all~ Now I do like to use the more high energy jagged or curly fonts if I want to add a little bit of personality or emotions for sound effects but usually for speech balloons I want the focus to be on what’s being said not the personality of the font and emotions the style of font gives. With dialogue ballon the goal that I try to stick to is making it as readable as possible. There a lot easier to read then more detailed high energy or emotional font styles. What would be a good font for webtoon speech bubbles?Ī nice rule of thumb when searching through all of the different font styles is to use handwritten font styles for speech balloons.
